Establish Procurement Team

Peter was engaged as the result of the recommendations that came from a structured Procurement Capability Review, The objectives of this engagement were to

  • identify savings and process efficiencies during a time of significant organizational change; and
  • to establish a specialist in-house procurement function.

A team of four was established and improved the supply or performance management of contracts for all major areas of spend.

An awareness of the value that the procurement function could deliver was established throughout the business very quickly. The pragmatism and clear thinking that was applied contributed significantly to the successful delivery of an number of large strategic sourcing initiatives

Procurement Capability and Capacity Building

Responsible for implementing a program of assessed and non-assessed training to improve procurement capability and capacity across the State Sector.

Won the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply 2010 Australasian award for best People Development initiative.

Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) program of assessed learning established and seven Australian and New Zealand training providers selected to delivery non assessed training.

Asset Maintenance and Management

Proposed and implemented a program of change to achieve the property maintenance recommendations contained in an enterprise wide Service Improvement initiative.

Managed the specification and completion of $6m in deferred maintenance.

Facilitated a review and revised approach to the engagement and management of consultancy services including project managers, architects and quantity surveyors.

Centralised the reasonability, prioritization and management budgets from all courts for planned, preventive and reactive maintenance.

Tendered and established regional and national contracts for a range of maintenance related contracts.

Won Govt3 award for electricity savings initiative

National Supply Agreements and Improved Procurement Discipline

National supply agreements negotiated for all major categories of spend for a large international infrastructure services company, including electrical, plumbing, paint, building materials. Developed a tool kit of best practice supplier selection and performance management. A joint venture Procurement Consultancy Services company established to maximize the value of tools and templates developed during the project. National Procurement Manager appointed to continue the implementation and integration of professional procurement practices into the business.
